Archaea are a set of single cell organisms that have no nucleus (prokaryotes). When archaea reproduce, they make a copy of their DNA and then the cell divides into two new cells Nanoarchaeotes are the most recently discovered archaea. They were first discovered in 2002 in Iceland. The nanoarchaeotes are some of the world’s smallest organisms. They are parasites that grow attached to a crenarchaeote cell. Since 2002, they have been discovered in various places around the world including Siberia, Yellowstone National Park and deep in the Pacific Ocean. Domain Archaea contains some prokaryotic cells that live in conditions that are too extreme for other forms of life. Not all archaea are extremophiles, however; many live in more moderate environments
